About Me

Hi I’m Jeanette!

I offer counselling services for adults and young people needing a calm and supportive space to explore and overcome emotional difficulties and learn to be a happier healthier you!

I have always worked in supporting roles, working with individuals from various backgrounds to improve their lives.  I have personally experienced the benefits of counselling when struggling with difficulties that life throws at us.  I realised that having a space to talk about my issues without judgement, allowed me to focus on finding a way to deal with problems I had previously thought would never be resolved.  It is amazing the answers we find if only we have the space, time and support to do so.

These experiences led to me studying person-centred counselling, which focuses on the individual as the expert of their own situation. The counsellor’s role is that of a supportive facilitator, there to assist the client in finding their own way to manage their situation.

When we work together I use an integrative approach to counselling based upon your needs and goals. This means I will draw on a combination of therapeutic models and techniques to help you improve your well-being.  At the heart is person-centred therapy however I will draw on cognitive-behavioural therapy, mindfulness, the Hudson Mind Process and creative approaches.

As a counsellor I have worked with client’s attending a charity for drug and alcohol misuse issues. I also worked at a charity supporting individuals and family members affected by chronic illness.  Most recently I have provided counselling for students at local universities and as a private practitioner supporting individuals from adolescent to those in their later years.

I am a Registered Member of British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), which means I follow their principles of good practice outlined in their ethical framework. I also hold a current DBS enhanced registration.
